Friday marks the return of hockey here (preseason at least) and the end of the hibernation season during which my enthusiasm retreats in response to the brutal emptiness of the summer heat. Even now, it refuses to fully reveal itself by stepping out from behind the wall of ennui it puts up around it so that it can't see the clock. My enthusiasm knows ignorance is the only way to keep time from dragging its feet between events hosted by good pal, excitement. Events like hockey season.
Yet news of an upgrade to the season ticket holders lounge have cracked the buttresses of this ennui, and enthusiasm has listened to this and many other reports, causing it to peek slightly at the time and day. It has promised itself to remain behind its barrier, but there's no harm in putting on its shoes so when the time comes to emerge it will be ready to come out at full velocity.
But we're probably gonna lose this one anyway. Good thing it's just the lousy preseason.
