Nice to meet you, Mr. Congressman

I'll be right here if you ever want to make eye contact.

I attended a meeting at our big Procter & Gamble about a new shipping facility that could be established nearby. Our congressman Rodney Alexander was there. However, he had trouble acknowledging that I was. Swell fella.

Eye contact. Hand. Eye contact. Hand.

Nothing to get out of sorts about. Obviously I was not present at the pow-wow, but his behavior seems intuitively obvious to me. On the one hand you have Proctor & Gamble execs--potential deep pocketed donor(s). On the other hand you have newby reporter. Hmm, the congressman wonders, who to schmooze?

Once, I had to interview somebody from ORSP about Research Day. I walked in and said, "Hello, it's nice to meet you." I held out my hand as usual and she COMPLETELY ignored me. I must have held it out for a full two minutes before I finally gave up and interviewed her. I was so upset.

About a week later, I really thought about it, and I realized that was a pretty lame thing for me to get upset about. So what if some total stranger didn't reach out and move my hand up and down in the air for no reason?

Anyway, I'm sure he was just distracted.
