I have to make calls to the law enforcement agencies every night, and sometimes it is just the pick-me-up I am looking for to get me through until quitting time.
Every night, there is a deputy in one of the nearby parishes that just can't wait to get me off the phone. I don't know why, but the faster he talks, the slower it takes me to get out a sentence. This is unintentional, but it happens nonetheless. He sometimes sighs when I take a second to come back with a personalized response to his last remark.
Normally, I am a pretty fast talker, so I can't explain this. I know that it shouldn't, but it kind of entertains me.
