One of the hardest things I have to do is be the happy face of the company in an office after the fallout of a problem. Whether it was something we controlled or something that swept us into its wake, the responsibility of its outcome is inevitably going to fall on me. With good reason.
Sometimes this means being able to repair the damage done. At the very least attempting to. Our clients don't want to feel left alone, and we don't ever want them to. But sometimes the answers aren't simple, and we have to decide what's in everyone's best interest.
Or maybe we have to tell ourselves that just to make it through dinner when the truth is it's never as easy to live it as it is to say it.
