'You are ruining move-in day for us'

The first fifteen minutes in our new apartment may have been spent in resentment, but it turned out to be fine. The landlady consistently mentioned the apartment we looked at a week before paying the deposit.

When we went to sign the lease, we discovered there had been some miscommunication. "The apartment you looked at" -- a top-floor apartment with a fireplace -- became a bottom-floor, fireplace-deficient corner apartment.

The upside is we have more living room floor space and a bigger patio. So it works out.
