The NY trail's gone cold

After a promising turn-of-events last week -- when two organizations said they were reviewing my "portfolio" -- I am left at square one.

One of the organizations posted the job listing on Craigslist again, signaling the end of the review process for the last round of applicants. The other followed suit with the other 60+ employers with whom I applied. She simply stayed silent.

The Town Talk in Alexandria wants to hire me on as a full-time reporter. Who can blame them? I cranked out some decent content for them this summer. But my heart lies elsewhere.

Amy says it wouldn't be a compromise to take the TT position, but she wouldn't mind living near her mom after everything that has happened lately.
