I just returned from Monroe, La., where the job hunt took a sharp upward turn.
I arrived at the interview at 11:30 a.m., which was a little earlier than expected. Highway 84 was nearly empty.
After lunch, I talked with HR about benefits and salaries. I was then ushered to the newsroom to three or four editors about the area's history, my career goals and their expectations of the new copy desk employee.
After four hours, managing editor Ken Stickney wrapped up the day by offering me a job. Nice.
I am still waiting to hear back from a few feelers, but the Monroe potential intrigues me.
